The hardware requirements to run the
Fisher of Men CMS is very minimal. If you're able to run Microsoft Office which includes Word and Outlook, then
you'll have no problems running the Fisher of Men CMS.
The program is setup to run in a 1024
x 768 screen resolution. At this resolution there won't be any
scrolling bars on the top or left allowing you to see the full
window. With 17"+ monitors and now the wide screen monitors,
most every monitor should be setup at 1024 x 768.
I just recently purchased 8
22" wide screen monitors for a great price with FREE
shipping. They are an
Acer X223Wbd Black 22" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2
2500:1. Check it out. It's a great monitor.
Additional Information About
Computers In General:
We are in a RAM
environment. The more you have the faster things will
run. We recommend a minimum of 2 gigs for a computer
on XP and 3 gigs for a computer on Vista.
If you run Vista you should
have a computer that is at minimum a Dual/Duo Core.
This is just the way it is with Vista.
The more programs you open
up at the same time the slower the programs will be.
This is just the way it is in the world of computers.

will work. If not, we'll tell you.
The E-Mail Manager and MS Word Integrator:
The E-Mail Manager runs from within
the Fisher of Men CMS and does not use any 3rd party emailing
programs. However, you must have a POP email account to setup
in the Fisher of Men CMS. AOL and web based emailing won't
work.
As for the MS Word Integrator we've
tested it in Word 2000, Word XP (2002) and Word 2003. It
works great in all 3 of these versions of MS Word. 2007 is
currently being tested.
Network Version:
The network version can be ran on a
client-server network like Windows 2000, 2003 or 2008 Server or a
Peer-to-Peer network.
Each user will install the program
files to their own computer, which is setup as Drive "C". The datafiles will be installed
to a designated server. Each user needs to recognize the
server drive as the same drive. For example if the Server
Drive for user 1 is "S" and is "T" for user 2, this won't work.
A common problem in a
Peer-to-Peer network is where the path for the Server drive is, i.e.,
"S" for all users except the user who's using the server where it's
their "C" drive.
In
a Peer to Peer environment we do not recommend using the
designated server as a workstation. In the world of
networking there's a long standing saying ... "Protect Thy
Server!"
Installation of Files:
Currently the system is setup to
install key files to the users "C" drive. If you don't want
any files installed to your "C" drive we can do a a custom
installation.
Hosting The System on The Internet:
In the very near future, we will be
allowing Fisher of Men CMS clients to host their system at our
insurance products data center. This will allow you run the
Fisher of Men CMS from any computer with an Internet connection.
While this does offer a convenience,
hosted systems require a month to month hosting fee. If just a
few people in your church need access to your Fisher of Men CMS via the Internet,
there are other ways to make this happen without incurring the month
to month hosting fees. The key here is only one person at a
time can access it via the Internet.
This
could be a workable solution. Talk to your Account Manager
about this.
